Crockpot Ham, Green Beans, and Potatoes

There are tons of great slow cooker recipes out there, but with so many of them out there, you still have to make some side dishes.  However, the recipe below makes it possible to get an entire meal straight from the slow cooker. You don't even need to add anything at the end or monitor it. Simply add all the ingredients and enjoy a home-cooked meal that you didn't have to sweat.

This recipe uses baby potatoes, but you can use any potatoes you want. Whether you use frozen or fresh green beans is entirely up to you. The main thing is to cut the ham and potatoes into pieces of the same size so that they are evenly cooked. Otherwise, one may become mushy long before the other and eventually turn to mush.

*  Ingredients :

° 1 pound pork shank (also called pork shank) (or 2 cups cooked pork chops)
°36 ounces fresh or frozen green beans (in small pieces)
° 3 cups of water
° 4 large yellow or red potatoes, cut into small pieces
° 1 tablespoon dry thyme
° 1 teaspoon garlic powder
° 1 teaspoon onion powder
° Half a teaspoon of black pepper
° 1 teaspoon salt to taste
° ¼ 1 teaspoon ground cloves
° ½ 1 tsp ground cinnamon
° Oil, just spray it on (about 1-2 tablespoons)

* Instructions :

Add pork leg (or pork chops) to the bottom of the crock pot, then pour in the green beans, water, and potato pieces. Don't cut the potatoes too large, or they will find it hard to finish when everything else is ready. I like to go an inch or smaller.

Next, add the thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, cloves, and cinnamon. Mix it well and drizzle it with a little oil (1-2 tablespoons) before covering it.

Cook on high heat about 4 hours or on low heat about 6-7 hours. It all depends on whether or not you come home and how fast you want to go. Do not overcook, as the green beans will turn into a mush. But you want the potatoes to be tender.

Once the green beans and potatoes are cooked, you'll remove the pork leg and let it cool slightly before slicing the meat into cubes. Turn the crock pot on the warm setting while the steaks cool and chop. Add pork chops again and serve.

Enjoy !
