My Amish friend introduced me to this delicious snack, and I couldn't resist eating more of it!

1 pie crust already baked and ready to use (9 inches)

1 cup of white sugar

2 tablespoons of regular flour

Half a teaspoon of salt

2 cups of full-fat milk

3 egg yolks, whisked.

1/2 cup of smooth peanut butter

2 tablespoons of butter without salt

1 teaspoon of vanilla flavoring

1 cup of thick cream

2 tablespoons of powdered sugar

You can add chopped peanuts or chocolate shavings on top if you like.

Instructions

In a pot, mix the sugar, flour, and salt.

Slowly mix the milk into the mixture, making sure it is well combined.

Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens and starts boiling. Keep cooking and stirring for approximately 1 minute.

Take the mixture off the heat. Slowly mix a bit of the hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks. Then, pour everything back into the saucepan.

Heat gently until it starts to boil and cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring continuously.

Take the mixture off the heat and quickly mix in the peanut butter, butter, and vanilla extract until it's smooth.

Put the filling into the pie crust that has been baked beforehand and let it cool down to room temperature.

After the pie has cooled down, put it in the fridge for at least 3 hours until it is firm.

Before you serve it, beat the thick cream with the powdered sugar until it forms soft peaks. Put the whipped cream on top of the cold pie using a spoon or a piping bag.

Add chopped peanuts or chocolate shavings on top if you like.

Different Types and Advice

For a fun change, you can use a graham cracker or chocolate cookie crust instead of a regular pie crust. If you want to add more depth to the flavor, mix melted chocolate with the peanut butter before putting it in the crust. Also, think about placing banana slices on the crust before adding the filling to enhance the taste with a mix of peanut butter and banana flavors.
