3 huevos
One and a half cups of white sugar
1/2 cup of softened butter
3 tablespoons of regular flour
1 cup of buttermilk
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
1 teaspoon of vanilla flavoring
1/8 teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg.
1 pie crust that is 9 inches in diameter and has not been baked.
How to Prepare Buttermilk Pie
Heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
Whisk eggs until they are foamy. Mix sugar, butter, and flour together until they are smooth.
Add buttermilk, lemon juice, vanilla, and nutmeg and mix well. Put the mixture into the pie crust.
Bake for 40 to 60 minutes until the middle is solid.
Take out of the oven and let it cool for 1 hour before eating.
Advice
If the edges of your pie crust are getting too brown, cover the pie with foil until it's done baking.
You will know your pie is ready when the top is slightly brown and the center still moves a bit. It will keep hardening as it gets colder. You can insert a toothpick in the middle of the pie. If it comes out mostly clean, your pie is done.
