Ingredients:
2 cans (15 oz each) of peaches, drained
2 packages (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 cup butter (equivalent to 2 sticks)
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup brown sugar
3 tsp cinnamon
1 ½ cups sprite or any citrus soda
Vanilla ice cream (for serving)
Directions:
Preparation: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish evenly.
Dough Prep: Unroll the crescent dough and separate into individual triangles.
Assemble the Dumplings: At the wider end of each triangle, place one or two peach slices, based on their size. Sprinkle a dash of cinnamon and wrap the dough around the peach slice securely.
Arrange in Dish: Once wrapped, transfer the dumpling to the greased baking dish. Continue this process for the remaining dough.
Prepare the Butter Mixture: In a separate bowl, melt the butter. Stir in the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and the leftover cinnamon, blending until the mixture attains a smooth consistency.
Add Toppings: Gently pour the butter concoction over the arranged dumplings. To ensure the dumplings have a crisp crust, pour the Sprite or citrus soda around the sides, avoiding direct contact with the dumplings' tops.
Baking Time: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes. The dumplings should have a golden-brown hue once done.
Serve with a Twist: Dish out the warm dumplings and crown them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for that perfect finishing touch. Enjoy!
