CHAKALAKA

 


Chakalaka - A refreshing spicy tomato bean flavor that will excite your taste buds.

Simple yet fun in all respects, this South African-born veggie side can be as spicy or mild as you wish. 


Chakalaka is a dish that is native to South Africa and is a staple all over the country. Mostly during festivities and gathering and a must-have during barbecue (barbecues in South Africa). Legend has it that - it was developed by men working in gold mines - they put vegetables together with canned beans to form an amazing taste to pair with their starchy side.


* Ingredients :

° 1 small bag of green beans
° 4 carrots
° 1 can of Foul Co
° 2 teaspoons of paprika
° 2 teaspoons of chicken spice
° 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
° 2 teaspoons masala
° 1 tablespoon of olive oil
° 1 tablespoon of curry
° 250 ml of water

* Directions : 
 
Slice the ends from each end of the beans, slice them in half, slice the carrots in half and boil them with 250ml of water until they are soft, please! Cook them until the water dries up! Pour the oil into the same saucepan with the spices, fry for 5 minutes, remove from heat and pour over the beans.
