This evening, I walked into my girlfriend’s bathroom and noticed something strange lying on the floor.
At first, I barely paid attention to it.
It was small, dark, and oddly shaped, sitting near one of the damp areas of the bathroom. My first thought was that it was probably nothing more than a piece of trash.
Maybe a strip of rubber.
Perhaps part of a broken bathroom item.
Or just some random piece of debris that had somehow ended up on the floor.
I was about to walk away when something made me stop.
There was something unsettling about it.
The more closely I looked, the stranger it seemed.
It was dark, thick, and uneven, and its surface didn't look quite like ordinary plastic or rubber. The texture seemed almost organic.
Then one thought suddenly crossed my mind:
What if it's alive?
I immediately stepped back.
The Strange Object on the Bathroom Floor
I tried to convince myself that I was overthinking it.
Bathrooms are full of strange-looking things when you really stop to look at them.
Wet hair can resemble tiny worms.
Soap residue can look like some kind of creature.
Drain debris can take on completely unfamiliar shapes.
And anything that's been sitting in a damp environment can look very different from how it would normally appear.
Still, something about this object felt different.
So I started looking around.
I checked near the drain.
Then around the toilet.
I looked beneath the sink and along the edges of the walls.
I even glanced at the pipes and ceiling, wondering where such a strange-looking object could have come from.
And then the questions started.
Had it crawled out of the drain?
Had someone accidentally carried it inside?
Could there be more nearby?
That last thought was enough to make my skin crawl.
