Here are the steps to properly clean a mattress from bed bugs:

Find the areas with bed bugs: Check your mattress thoroughly for signs of bed bugs, such as live bugs, shed skins, eggs, or dark spots of their waste.

Clean the mattress with a vacuum cleaner that has a brush attachment. Make sure to vacuum the whole mattress well, focusing on seams, buttons, and edges where bed bugs could be hiding. Throw away the vacuum bag in a closed plastic bag outside your house right away.

Steam Cleaning: Using steam is a good way to get rid of bed bugs and their eggs. Use a steam cleaner with a high heat setting (at least 130°F or 54°C) to steam the whole mattress, paying extra attention to spots where bed bugs usually hide.

Cover the mattress: Once you have cleaned and dried the mattress, put it inside a special cover that protects against bed bugs. These covers are made to catch any bed bugs left in the mattress and stop new infestations.
