Heat the oven before using it.
Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) before using it. Put oil or butter on a 8×12-inch baking dish.
Get the ground meat ready.
In a pan, warm up some olive oil over medium heat (you can skip this step if you prefer). Put the diced onions in the pan and cook them until they become see-through (around 3-4 minutes).
Put the garlic in and cook for one more minute.
Put the minced meat in the pan and cook it until it turns brown. Add salt, pepper, and paprika to season. Remove any extra grease.
Get the potatoes ready.
Cut the potatoes into thin slices, about 1/8 inch thick. You can use a mandolin or a knife to cut slices of the same size.
Blend the sauces together.
In a bowl, mix together the mushroom soup, cheddar soup, and milk. Mix until there are no lumps.
Make the casserole.
Place a layer of sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish.
Put some of the cooked ground beef mixture on top.
Put some of the soup on top of the beef.
Put around one-third of the grated cheddar cheese on top.
Keep layering the ingredients until you use them all, ending with a final layer of shredded cheddar cheese.
Cook in the oven.
Put aluminum foil on top of the casserole dish and bake for 60-70 minutes until the potatoes are soft. You can check by putting in a fork.
Take off the cover and bake for another 10-15 minutes to make the cheese on top turn golden.
Add decoration and present:
Allow the dish to cool a bit, and add some fresh parsley or chopped green onions if you like.
Heat it up and eat it!
Advice:
You can include more vegetables such as peas, carrots, or corn to add different textures.
If you like, you can replace the beef with turkey or chicken.
