Another sad event for the Bryant family, sending our thoughts and prayers.

Kobe Bryant's wife, Vanessa Bryant, shared on her Instagram story on Tuesday, "We are sending our sympathies after learning about the death of my husband's father."

"We were expecting things to be better." Even though we didn't spend much time together, he was always kind and pleasant to be with. Kobe really loved him."

Doug Young, who used to play with Kobe Bryant, described Joe as the perfect example to follow.

"Joe was our junior varsity coach at Lower Merion, and he was a very supportive mentor, teacher, and role model," Young said to ESPN. "He had a big impact on me and my teammates." He made basketball enjoyable and inspired us to improve; he had faith in us. I will always remember his warm smile, his big hugs, and the strong connection he had with Kobe. When I was a child in Lower Merion, there was no family we admired more than the Bryants, especially Joe.

Arn Tellem, who is the vice chairman of the Pistons and used to be Kobe Bryant's representative, shared his sorrow about Joe's passing and joined the basketball world in grieving the loss of a respected basketball figure from Philadelphia. "Our friendship allowed me to support Kobe when he started playing in the NBA, a memory I will always treasure." Joe was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who was kind to everyone he knew.

May he rest peacefully.
