If you are a parent or take care of children, you know that the things you say to them can really affect them. If you encourage and provide them with a reason to strive for their future, they will become strong individuals who can overcome challenges. If you criticize them and make them feel bad, they might think they will fail and be scared to try new things.
Words are very powerful, and Stacey Truman, a mother and employee at Kingston Primary School in Virginia, understands this very well. Stacey has worked in the school cafeteria for nine years. During this time, she has watched young students grow up, become teenagers, and start their adult lives.
As a mom and a worker, Stacey feels like a mom when the kids come to the cafeteria for lunch. She wants to do something important for them, something that will motivate and help them see things differently. Stacey came up with the concept of "Talking Bananas" after getting an idea from an activity she did with her kids.
