Mix sugar, water, corn syrup, and salt in a glass baking dish. Put plastic wrap on top and heat in the microwave on the highest setting for 5 minutes.
Take out of the microwave and remove the plastic wrap. Mix well and put back in the microwave without covering it.
Cook on high heat for an additional 4 to 5 minutes until it reaches the hard ball stage, which is when a small amount is dropped into cold water.
Let it sit and cool for around 4 minutes. Whisk egg whites until they form stiff peaks using a mixer.
Pour the sugar mixture over the egg whites while beating with a mixer until the mixture becomes less shiny and holds its shape. Around 4 or 5 minutes.
Add vanilla and nuts. Place small amounts of the mixture onto wax paper using a teaspoon. You will get around 25 pieces, depending on how big you make them.
Instructions To clean the glass bowl you used in the microwave, soak it in warm soapy water right after you finish using it for the sugar mixture.
