Smothered Oxtails



3 lbs of succulent oxtails

1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped

2 tbsp of our signature homemade BBQ rub (or your favorite store-bought BBQ seasoning)

2 tbsp of high-quality vegetable oil

3 cups of rich BBQ sauce

A dash of liquid smoke for that authentic BBQ flavor (we recommend a little over 1 tbsp)

3 cups of beef, chicken broth, or simply water for versatility

Cooking Instructions:

Prep Your Oxtails: Toss the oxtails and onions in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle them generously with vegetable oil for a golden cook.

Season Generously: Ensure a thorough coating of oil, then liberally sprinkle our BBQ seasoning for that perfect zest.

Sear to Perfection: In a large pot over medium-high heat, sear the oxtails and onions until they’re beautifully browned. Once done, transfer them into a slow cooker.

Create the BBQ Magic: In the same pot, add your choice of broth or water. Stir in the BBQ sauce and liquid smoke. Let this simmer for 5 minutes on medium heat, awakening all the flavors.

Slow Cook to Tenderness: Pour this delicious BBQ mixture over the oxtails in the slow cooker. Seal the flavors with the lid and set to cook on LOW for 6 hours.

Ready to Serve: After a patient wait, your BBQ oxtails are ready! Serve them hot with sides of your choice.
