Texas toast sloppy

Ingredients:

1lb lean ground beef

.25 cup chopped onion

½ tsp garlic powder

3/4 cup ketchup

2 tsp tomato paste

½ tsp Worcestershire sauce

2.5 tsp brown sugar

Salt & Pepper – to taste

4 pieces of Green Mill Texas Toast

1oz shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

Preheat Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F, getting it ready for the Texas Toast.

Brown the Meat: On a stovetop over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onion until browned. Once done, drain the excess fat.

Prepare the Sauce: To the browned beef and onion, add ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and season with salt and pepper. Stir everything well, ensuring the ingredients combine evenly. Continue to cook over medium heat until the mixture thickens to your desired consistency.

Bake the Toast: While your Sloppy Joe mixture is thickening, place the Green Mill Texas Toast in the preheated oven. Bake for about 5-6 minutes or until it's golden brown.

Assemble: Once your Texas Toast is ready, spoon generous amounts of the Sloppy Joe mixture on top of each toast slice. Finish by sprinkling ¼ oz of cheddar cheese on top of each.

Serving Suggestion:

For an authentic experience, serve these open-faced Sloppy Joe's alongside corn on the cob. It's a delightful combination reminiscent of classic comfort foods!

Note:

Making Sloppy Joe's from scratch not only elevates the taste but also allows you to control the ingredients and adjust according to personal preferences. Enjoy your meal!
