Homemade Buttercream Frosting

1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

4 cups powdered sugar, sifted

2-3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

Cream the Butter: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until it's smooth, creamy, and has a pale, almost white appearance.

Sift in Sweetness: Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition. This ensures your frosting remains lump-free.

Liquid Love: Add the vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream or milk. Beat on high until the frosting is light and fluffy. If you desire a softer consistency, add the additional tablespoon of cream or milk and blend well.

Seasoning: Introduce a pinch of salt and mix until just combined. This will balance out the sweetness and bring out the richness of the butter.
