CHOCOLATE DEPRESSION CAKE

Ingredients
For the cake:

1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 teaspoon of white vinegar
1/3 cup of vegetable oil
1 cup of water
For the frosting:

2 tablespoons of butter
1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup of powdered sugar
1 tablespoon of milk (or cream)
1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Chocolate Depression Cake Preparation Steps:

In a large mixing bowl, merge the all-purpose flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda.
In a separate bowl, mix the vanilla extract, vinegar, vegetable oil, and water. Gradually introduce the wet ingredients to the dry mixture until they are fully combined and smooth.
Transfer the batter into a greased 8x8 square pan.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for approximately 30-35 minutes. The cake is ready when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool down completely before applying frosting.
Frosting Preparation Steps:

In a small saucepan (or a microwave-safe dish), melt the butter. Stir in the cocoa powder to form a thick paste.
Move the chocolate mix to a medium-sized mixing bowl. With the mixer on a low setting, add the powdered sugar, milk (or cream), and vanilla extract.
Once the ingredients have merged, switch the mixer to a medium-high speed and beat for about 5 minutes, until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
Once the cake has fully cooled, spread the frosting evenly on top.
Enjoy this surprisingly delectable treat, brimming with chocolatey goodness!
