Old Fashioned Beef Stew

*ingredients:

° 2 lbs cooked beef cubes
° 1/2 cup flour
° 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
° 3/4 cups water
° 2 chopped onions
° 2 carrots
° 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
° 3 cups beef broth
° 1 cup peeled and diced turnip
° 2 bay leaves
° 2 teaspoons dried marjoram (or thyme)
° 3/4 teaspoon salt
° 3/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
° 2 cups chopped green beans

* Preparation

1. In a large bowl, mix the meat cubes with half the amount of flour. Heat the oil in a frying pan on a medium high heat. Add the beef cubes in batches and cook until golden brown. Place the beef cubes in the slow cooker.

2. Add 12 cups (125 ml) water to the pan and bring to a boil, scraping the browned parts. Pour the liquid into the slow cooker, then add the onions, carrots, parsnips, potatoes, broth, kale, bay leaf, marjoram, salt, and pepper. Cover and simmer for 8 to 10 hours (or on high heat for 4 to 6 hours).

3. In a bowl, mix the remaining flour and water. Pour the flour mixture into the slow cooker and mix. Add green beans. Cover and cook on high heat for 10 minutes. Remove the bay leaves.

Enjoy !
